Solutions to Term Test 2 Exams for Extra Lewis Practice

Simplified guide to naming <– *You DO NOT need to know how to name for TT1, however you DO need to be able to identify groups. This PDF shows the groups in many different compounds and so would be useful as you can see what the structures look like!

The list of functional groups you need to know is:
alkane, alkene, alkyne, alcohol, ether, ester, aldehyde, ketone, carboxylic acid, amine, and amide
An amide was first tested on the November 2016 exam so any of these is fair game.

Again, for TT1, you only need to be able to SEE them, not give them names.

If you feel there are any errors or corrections feel free to email me. Most of this work has been checked multiple times but I still like feedback/questions.

My recommended calculator for Chem 201, 203 and 351 is a Ti 36X Pro.

Corrections

Exam package – none so far

Course booklet solutions – Quantum Numbers – Question 20. The 2p orbital should only have 1 total nodes (1 planar node and 0 spherical nodes)

Archive:

These notes are no longer relevant however maybe for future Term Test 1s:

If you wanted to learn more about nodes, here’s a written explanation. Note that Orbital Diagrams are worth MINIMAL marks so don’t worry about this unless you already understand everything else.
